Another Epic Road Trip in aid of Kennedy’s Disease Association UK
I am Darren Arthur, managing director of The 2cv Shop Ltd.
In 2022 myself, my son Jacob and a friend in Australia, Dave, embarked on a epic road trip across America in a 1985 Citroen 2cv.
We did this to raise awareness of Kennedy’s Disease, and to raise funds for KDUK and KDA.
We coved over 5800 miles, 15 States of America, 38 days and had a bucket load of fun.
Now for Part 2 ...
This time…. It’s Electric!
The Plan
After completing the 2022 Great Road Trip in a standard 602cc 1985 Citroen 2cv, this time we are doing it in a 2cEv our fully Electric 2cv.
In late May / early June 2026 We will start the great road trip part 2 at one of the top research centres in Europe for Kennedy disease in Milan Italy.
Where, we will meet the researchers and find out the latest news into finding a treatment for Kennedy disease.
European Mountain Passes
On the way home from the research Centre in Milan we will drive our 2cEv up 3 of the highest passes in Europe.
The Grossclockner Pass in Austria, 2571m or 8435 ft. plus the World famous Stelvio Pass with its 48 hair pin bends in Italy, 2757m or 9045 ft (weather permitting – as the passes should be reopen late May, It can snow quite heavily at the top of the Stelvio pass.
Then for The icing on the cake is the Furka Pass in Switzerland made famous by the James Bond film, Goldfinger.
If we survive, on our arrival back in the UK we also be attending the Everything Electric Show in London and Farnborough UK in 2026.
Epic Road Trip – USA
When we raise enough money we plan to ship our Electric 2cEv over the pond to Los Angeles.
After an epic drive from Los Angeles we will attend the Everything Electric Show in Vancouver in the September.
I know what you lot are thinking, ‘a nice easy drive up the coast to Vancouver’.
Would I make it that easy? No, instead, I am planning an epic 3000 miles route.
The plan this go via Irvine one of the top research centres for KD in the world. Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, drive a part of Route 66, Monument Valley then pop up Pikes Peak 14115 ft or 4302m, Bonneville Salt Flats, then end up to Vancouver and the Everything Electric Show.
When are we thinking about shipping the 2cEv over the pond? It will probably be the summer of 2027 or 2028. to give us time to raise as much money as possible for Kennedy disease.
